We have been involved with Golden Retrievers since 1990. Our first golden was SpiceOLife Cassandra, UD. I handled her to a Utility title. She lived to be 14 years old.
Our first conformation dog was Kanosak's Gold Nikoli, CDX. I owner handled him, but knew very little about showing at that time. At the age of six he won BOW over much younger dogs. I was able to get 9 points, including a major but retired him at seven. However, we were so pleased when he won Best of Opposite in Veterans at the Sandlapper Specialty in 2004 at the age of 12. He beat some real nice champion dogs. Nik was very much an all around dog. He also loved the field work. He lived to be 13.5 years old.
In 2001 we traveled to Canada where SpiceOLife Rhymes and Reasons,CD (JonDe) won half his Canadian conformation points. SpiceOLife The Fox (Carla) also won conformation points in Canada. Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to get back and finish them.
I worked agility with SpiceOLife Teddy McBear, CDX, OA. It was a great experience and I hope to get another dog started in agility soon.
I have put 20 AKC and 3 Canadian performance titles on my goldens. I'm presently doing conformation, obedience, and field work with my younger goldens.
We have other goldens who are cherished members of our family and are couch potatoes.
We occasionally breed a litter when we want to keep a puppy to show. The other puppies are sold to pet homes on a spay/neuter agreement.
